Mini is a 2022 Bengali-language historical drama film directed by Mainak Bhaumik.[1] The film is produced by Rahul Bhanja and Sampurna Lahiri. It was released on 6 May 2022. The story aims to throw light on the real essence of friendship where age can’t be a boundary. It’s a refreshing tale of a young and hot fashion designer aunt Titli (Mimi Chakraborty) and her school going mischievous niece Mini (Ayanna Chatterjee).

Director Mainak Bhaumik has made about one and a half dozen films from ‘Amara’ to ‘Chini’. He may feel like making a movie ‘Baye Haat Ka Khel’ now, but the subject of the film needs a lot of thought. Otherwise, the picture never becomes a movie, or a people’s ‘book’. The same has happened in the case of ‘Mini’ (Mini Film). Father has remarried, mother is devastated and tries to commit suicide. A busy dress designer aunt takes care of teenage Mini. The role played by Mimi Chakraborty. The story of the friendship between these two girls of unequal age. Besides, she has to deal with Mimi’s emotional instability with her boyfriend. Abandoned by her parents, Mini behaves like a bit of a spoiled teenager for natural reasons. Does not do school homework, fights, argues and quarrels with aunt. But in the end, the perfect solution to all the problems is to be known! It happened.
However, while arranging that work into a screenplay, almost the audience’s patience has been caused by the complex cycle of various events. The teenage mind needed to feel more deeply. It’s not enough to just put a few words in your mouth. However, Mimi and new face Ayanna Chatterjee’s natural and fluent performances make the bond between the two characters somewhat believable.
The film could have been more interesting if the aunt-niece murders, misunderstandings and reunions were given more importance by giving a little less space to the aunt’s tumultuous love affairs. What else to say about what did not happen! Kamalika in the role of mother, Mithu Chakraborty in the role of grandmother is very comfortable

It is difficult to think that an experienced director like Moinak is stuck in thinking about the subject. He is the one who has taken at least 12 drone shots of day and night Kolkata city throughout the film. It doesn’t seem to have helped much. There are many Mini other aspects of ongoing life, where there are problems in life, please take a closer look at that.
