At the centre of the love story in Aritra Sen’s Sohorer Ushnotomo Dine is a crisis that hits home easily. The script takes into account what it really takes for a relationship to survive in this day and age, be it with a partner or with a city rivileged Ritoban can consider a life in the UK and gets the support of his well-off parents, for Anindita, the daughter of a school teacher, the decision is tougher since a scholarship is not the end of her problems. Ritoban moves away to London to pursue a PhD and Anindita stays behind. The primary storyline is set five years down the line but it’s interspersed with flashbacks that keep weaving in new plot points.
